1. Write a letter (within 150 words) to the editor of a newspaper on to what extent the use of animals in the scientific research acceptable. [Write X, Y, Z instead of your name and address],40 

2.Draft a report (within 200 words) on GST roll out celebration.40

3. Write a dialogue between two elderly persons on the appropriate age of superannuation.40

4.Make a precis of the following passage and add a suitable title:40

Culture is a forbidding word. I have to use it, knowing of none better to describe the various beautiful and interesting objects_which man have made in the past and handed down to us. and which some of us arc hoping to hand on. Many people despise them. They argue with force that cultural stuff takes up a great deal of room and time, and better be scrapped.

Cultivated people are like drops in ocean. They mix easily and genially with other drops, for those exclusive days are over when cultivated people made only cultivated friends; and became tongue-tied or terror-struck in the presence of anyone whose make-up was different from their own. Culture, thank goodness, is no longer a social asset, it can no longer be employed either as a barrier against the mob or as a ladder into the aristocracy.

All the same we are a drop in the ocean. Few people share our enjoyment so far. Strictly between ourselves, and keeping our limited circulation in mind, let up put our heads together and consider for a moment our special problem, our special blessings, our special woes. No one need listen us who does want to. We whisper in the comer of a world which is full of others’ noises, and louder ones.

Come closer, our problem, as I see it, is what We have got worth passing on. What we have is (roughly speaking) a little knowledge about books, pictures, tunes, and a little skill in their interpretation. Seated beside our gasfires, and beneath our electric bulbs, we inherit a tradition which has lasted for about three thousand years.

5. Translate the following passage into English

ভাল চিঠি লিখতে গেলে হালকাভাবে, দুলকি চালে কাজটিতে এগোতে হবে। নৈর্ব্যক্তিক বা বিমূর্ত না হয়ে তোমাকে অন্তরঙ্গ হতে হবে। তুমি কিছুতেই বলবে না, "এটা বড়ই তুচ্ছ ব্যাপার, এ কথা লেখা চলে না"। তোমাকে  বরং বলতে হবে, "এই ধরণের তুচ্ছ সামান্য ব্যাপার নিয়েই তো আমরা সংসারে কথাবার্তা বলি। যদি আমি ওদেরকে একথা লিখি, ওরা আমাকে যেন চোখে দেখতে পাবে, আমার গলা শুনতে পাবে, আমি কি করছি তা জানতে পারবে।" এই ধারণাটি কীটস দারুণ প্রকাশ করেছেন তাঁর আমেরিকা প্রবাসী ভাই জর্জ ও তার স্ত্রীকে লেখা তাঁর সুদীর্ঘ চিঠিগুলির একটিতে। যে পারিবারিক স্নেহ-সম্পদ ছিল কীটসের চরিত্রের অন্যতম অতি মনোরম বৈশিষ্ট্য, তা তিনি এই সমস্ত চিঠিগুলিতে উজাড় করে ঢেলে দিয়েছেন। কিভাবে তিনি মাকে দেখতে গিয়েছেন, কিভাবে মা তাঁর ভোঁতা রসিকতা শুনে উপহাস করেছেন, কিভাবে তাঁরা মিসেস মিলারের বাড়িতে চা খেতে গিয়েছিলেন। তিনি আরও লিখেছেন "তোমাকে লেখার এত কথা আছে যে সেই লেখাতে কোন পারম্পর্য বা শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখা আমার পক্ষে অসম্ভব। হৃদয়ের নয়, মনের উপরের কথায় আগে এসে পড়ে- আর তাছাড়া যখনই পারব, এখানে আমাদের জীবনের কথা তোমাদের জানাব।"
